About
If you find yourself wandering in Malaga, let me introduce you to a hidden gem that seafood lovers simply cannot miss: Alaska Tavern. Nestled on Av de Europa, this bustling tavern is drawing both locals and visitors alike with its fresh and delicious offerings, straight from the bounties of the sea.
A visit to Alaska Tavern is an experience that begins at the moment you step through the door. From your first glance at the menu—or lack thereof, as many reviews note, there's no English version—you’re immersed in a world of culinary adventure. But don’t let the language barrier deter you; showcase a few pictures from your favorite food apps, and you shall be rewarded with a feast of fresh seafood and great flavors.
One cannot help but notice the rave reviews highlighting the restaurant's immense quality and flavor. Patrons like Mary Praks have hailed it as one of the best seafood spots in the city, while Liz C even expressed her undying love for the restaurant. The seafood is remarkably fresh, making each dish a stand-out. You can expect a swift service highlighted by nimble and humorous staff, as noted by different reviews, although it may be wise to brush up on a few Spanish phrases to enhance your dining experience!
While the food shines brightly here—think succulent squid, perfectly cooked fish, and perhaps a few standout tapas—there might be the occasional miss, such as the overfried padron peppers mentioned by customers. However, the overwhelming consensus suggests that the quality of the seafood outweighs any minor setbacks. Catalin Ilea pointed out the impressive speed at which meals arrive, making it an efficient choice for those who may be tight on time. With reasonable pricing that defies many upscale eateries, Alaska Tavern offers incredible value, ensuring you leave with both your stomach and wallet satisfied.
If you're planning a visit, be ready for a queue; the word is out, and with good reason. The vibrant atmosphere, coupled with brilliant food and service—described by Sven-olaf van Slijpe as a remarkable experience—is sure to elevate your dining away from home. Alaska Tavern is not just a meal; it's a testament to the beauty of vibrant, fresh, and simple seafood dining.
So the next time you're in Malaga, make sure to stop by Alaska Tavern. Indulging in their delectable seafood dishes could very well become the highlight of your culinary journey.
“ 10 out of 9! Brilliant. Good quality, fresh food. Marvellous service ”
“ Nice place, good food. We'd read good reviews and were nearby. The ensalada rusa was filled with seafood, and the gambas perfecto. The ostras were fresh and tasty. ”
“ Probably this is not for everyone - if you are looking for English-speaking service or white tablecloths, this is not for you. You have been warned. Just don’t come here. However, if you are looking for an authentic experience, this is a must in Malaga. Only locals come eat here. Saying that we felt like home is an understatement - at the end of the dinner, the waitress was hugging and kissing my daughter! They offer no dessert. Our daughter wanted one, so they scavenged some candies from who knows where for her. The food is amazingly fresh and prices are ridiculous for someone coming from Germany or the UK. We ate until our bellies were almost exploding and we had to leave them a huge tip - which they did not ask for in any way but were of course very grateful for. If we lived in Malaga we would come here like twice a week, probably PS they added an English menu available via QR code or their website - adding this because some comments were mentioning this is not available. It comes to show they are striving to improve which is to be appreciated. ”
“ The most important thing there is a food. So food was very tasty (no rubbery food). Portions are also not bad. Staff is awesome nimble and funny but they barely know english so if you are not prepared beforehand it will be not easy ”
“ Everything is just so good! Seafoods are so fresh, nothing wrong and bad. I just too love this restaurant! Thanks Mario for recommending this restaurant and writing down the dishes that we must gonna order! ”
“ Definitely the real stenght of this restaurant is the amazing price-quality ratio. We ate A LOT and only spent 16 euros each for a great food quality. You can see the picture and judge, it is not even all the food we got. I recommend sharing dishes, so you can try many things. The service isn't amazing, they dropped some food on us without apologising too much (this happened at another table too). Anyway, overall I'd say it is worth to try as the food is very good! ”
“ Food came very fast and was delicious, price is so cheap for what you get compared to other locations. Great place to eat ”
“ We stayed near this place and were so happy to have it next to us!!! One of the best seafood places in Malaga!! Defo worth to go and try fresh seafood!!! Padron peppers were a bit overfried, didn’t enjoy much, but the rest was so good. Please note there are no English menu, so I just showed pictured from the google reviews Also there are the queue as place is very busy!! ”
